AI usage, in plain language

AI Tokens & Credits

Tokens measure the text an AI model processes. On Bench, AI credits are simply your balance of usable tokens, not a second currency. Plans do not include tokens — you buy prepaid packs and spend them as you go.

What is an AI token?

A token is a small piece of text that an AI model reads or writes. One token is approximately four characters, or about three-quarters of an English word. The exact count varies with the text and model.

What are AI credits?

On Bench, AI credits means your balance of usable tokens from the prepaid packs you purchase. Credits are not another currency or a separate unit — they are the tokens you have left to spend.

Prepaid token packs

No plan bundles AI tokens. Choose a provider and buy 1 million to 10 million tokens at a consistent per-million rate. Add another pack when you need it.

How your token balance is used

Every AI action draws from your prepaid balance. When the balance hits zero, you need to purchase more tokens before AI features can run again.

  1. 01

    Buy a prepaid pack

Purchase Anthropic, OpenAI, or xAI tokens in the size you need. They land on your balance right away.

  2. 02

    Usage draws the balance

Each AI action uses tokens from that balance as models read and write text.

  3. 03

    Empty means buy more

If the balance runs out, AI usage pauses until you purchase another pack.

Different credits, different purpose

These AI credits are separate from measurement credits.

Measurement credits

Used for aerial measurements and 3D property models.
